- The primary fuel filter (large one) in under the driver's side frame rail - use a 6 mm allen wrench to remove the fuel-water drain plug before removing the filter. You need a 36mm socket wrench to remove the end-cap. The secondary fuel filter (small one) is located under the hood to the right of the oil filter housing - use a 15/16 inch socket wrench to remove the end-cap. The fuel housing will be filled with fuel - use a turkey baster to extract the fuel before installing the new fuel filter.

Some models feature a water drain port with a threaded plug or patented self-venting drain valve for efficient water purging as needed.
